With its moss-covered live oaks, rolling hills and old time canopy roads, the state capitol of Tallahassee truly does exemplify the 'other' Florida in both its history and natural beauty. Far removed from the tourist resorts and beach towns that made the Sunshine State famous, Tallahassee possesses a kind of Southern charm and pace of life unique unto itself.

Whispers of Spanish & French influence still mark the architectural landscape of the state's former passage between Pensacola and St Petersburg to the South Indeed, the town so-named 'Old Fields' by the Appalachee Indians before the dawn of English America has seen both rapid growth and a renewed dedication to historic preservation.

Recently designated an 'All-American' city, Tallahassee is among the top 10 most-educated cities in the country, and its appeal is obvious in its rapid growth. In the last 25 years, the state capital has grown 300% from a town of 25 square miles to over 100, much of that due to the influx of students choosing to attend those famous institutions of higher learning - Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee Community College.
